BBQ Pizza

For today’s edition of “Dinner at the Weavers” I wanted to take a classic recipe like pizza and jazz it up. So, tonight we’re having BBQ Pizza!! I’ve seen this recipe floating around on Pinterest but I’ve also seen it in cooking magazines way before Pinterest was even a thing. When I decided to make my version I wanted to keep it classic without reinventing the wheel but yet boosting all of the flavors.  The next time I make this I would add just one more thing and that would be fresh lime juice squeezed on top before serving.

Fun Fact: The most popular topping in the U.S. is pepperoni. The least favorite topping is anchovies.

What You’ll Need:
1 Tube of Pillsbury Pizza Crust
1 Container of BBQ Pulled Pork
5 Slices of Mozzarella Cheese
2 Onions
3 Cloves of Garlic
1 Avocado
1 Bunch of Cilantro
1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
½ Tablespoon of Salt
1 teaspoon of Pepper

What You’ll Do:

ü  Preheat the oven and follow the directions of the pizza crust dough. (You may have to pre bake the dough)
ü  While the crust is prebaking julianne the onions and mince the garlic. Put both in a pan with olive oil. Add the salt and pepper once the onions have cooked down for a few minutes. Once the onions have turned a golden brown (Caramelized) they are done.

ü  When the dough is done pre baking, spread the BBQ Pulled Pork Meat on the dough.
ü  Top with the caramelized onions.
ü  Add the slices of cheese.
ü  Bake the pizza according to the pizza crust dough instructions.
ü  When the pizza is done, top with cilantro (to your taste) and the cubed avocado.
ü  Lastly, Enjoy! J

This meal can feed a lot of people or is great for leftovers. Like I mentioned, this pizza has depths of flavors- tangy bbq pork, sweet onions, spicy cilantro, and creamy avocados. It’s simple but delicious.
