BBQ Pizza

For today’s edition of “Dinner at the Weavers” I wanted to take a classic recipe like pizza and jazz it up. So, tonight we’re having BBQ Pizza!! I’ve seen this recipe floating around on Pinterest but I’ve also seen it in cooking magazines way before Pinterest was even a thing. When I decided to make my version I wanted to keep it classic without reinventing the wheel but yet boosting all of the flavors.  The next time I make this I would add just one more thing and that would be fresh lime juice squeezed on top before serving.

Fun Fact: The most popular topping in the U.S. is pepperoni. The least favorite topping is anchovies.

What You’ll Need:
1 Tube of Pillsbury Pizza Crust
1 Container of BBQ Pulled Pork
5 Slices of Mozzarella Cheese
2 Onions
3 Cloves of Garlic
1 Avocado
1 Bunch of Cilantro
1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
½ Tablespoon of Salt
1 teaspoon of Pepper

What You’ll Do:

ü  Preheat the oven and follow the directions of the pizza crust dough. (You may have to pre bake the dough)
ü  While the crust is prebaking julianne the onions and mince the garlic. Put both in a pan with olive oil. Add the salt and pepper once the onions have cooked down for a few minutes. Once the onions have turned a golden brown (Caramelized) they are done.

ü  When the dough is done pre baking, spread the BBQ Pulled Pork Meat on the dough.
ü  Top with the caramelized onions.
ü  Add the slices of cheese.
ü  Bake the pizza according to the pizza crust dough instructions.
ü  When the pizza is done, top with cilantro (to your taste) and the cubed avocado.
ü  Lastly, Enjoy! J

This meal can feed a lot of people or is great for leftovers. Like I mentioned, this pizza has depths of flavors- tangy bbq pork, sweet onions, spicy cilantro, and creamy avocados. It’s simple but delicious.

Oven Time: 12 minutes
Full Process: 22 minutes

Total Number of Servings: 6

Price of While Dish: $12.92

Hamburger Sliders

Hello Everybody! For this edition of ‘Dinner at the Weavers’ I wanted to do a twist on a classic-the cheese burger! Everyone loves a good ole cheeseburger and my twist is making it mini! Recently, sliders have gotten more popular than ever before. For my slider, I’m keeping it classic with a few upgrades! The first time I made these sliders was about six years ago. I really like the flavors that I have created within this tiny sandwich. The savory beef patty taste so good with Hawaiian Sweet Rolls. This meal is perfect for out on the grill or inside on the stove top.

Fun Fact: The short story here is that Sliders were first made by a hamburger chain called White Castle. They were nicknamed Sliders and later on they copyrighted the name Slyders.
White Castle was founded in 1921 in Wichita, Kansas.

What You’ll Need:

1 Pound of Ground Beef
1 Bag of Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
1 Tablespoon of Salt
½ Tablespoon of Pepper
½ Cup of Thousand Island Dressing
Pickles
8 Slices of Cheddar Cheese
1 Roma Tomato
2 Small Onions
Ketchup
2 Tablespoon of Olive Oil

What You’ll Do:

ü  First, prep all of your vegetables. Cut the tomato into 8 slices and julianne the onions.
ü  Next, form your ground beef into 8 small patties.
ü  Then, salt and pepper one side. Put the seasoned side down into your skillet with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and season the other side that is facing up.
ü  While the sliders are cooking, put your onions in another skillet with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add a pinch of salt and cook until caramelized. This means that the onions have turned to a caramel color-they may look burned but, they are not J.
ü  After you have flipped your sliders and are cooking the other side, put a slice of cheese on top to melt.

ü  Once the sliders are done and the onions are caramelized it is time to build the sliders.
ü  First, add ½ tablespoon to the bottom bun. Then, add the slider with cheese. Next, is a squirt of ketchup, a slice of tomato, a spoonful of caramelized onions, and 2 pickles. Lastly, add the top bun that also has ½ tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing.
ü  Lastly, ENJOY!!!

These classic sliders are exactly what the cook called for J You can truly change up this recipe with any kinds of toppings. Like, adding mustard or not caramelizing the onions. Maybe even change out the Thousand Island dressing for mayonnaise. This is such a versatile recipe! Yet, my favorite part about this dish that makes it stand out is the Hawaiian sweet rolls; they total give that extra punch of unexpected flavor!

Serve With: French Fries, Potato Chips, or Onion Rings.

Prep Time: 8 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Full Process: 28 minutes

Total Number of Servings: Makes 8 Sliders

Price of Whole Meal: $12.92
Price per 1 Slider: $1.62

Please enjoy!!

Baked Ziti

As for my first meal ever to blog, I have chosen to go with my Baked Ziti recipe. My baked ziti recipe is truly one of my favorites; ask any of my family members. Anytime that I know I will be feeding a crowd I whip out this beautiful dish. It’s definitely a classic and my favorite thing to eat in the whole world. As you’ll soon find out anything Italian is my favorite J

The first time that I saw this meal be prepared was about 8th grade when Rachel Ray made it on Food Network. I have tried making baked ziti all different types of ways; with zucchini slices layered throughout, ground chicken, ground turkey, different types of noodles, and etc. But, my favorite is adding in some sun dried tomatoes. YUMM!

Fun Fact: Pasta al Forno means Baked Ziti in Italian

What You’ll Need:
1 Box of Ziti Pasta Noodles
1Medium Onion
2 Cloves of Garlic
1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil
1 Pound of Ground Beef
1 Teaspoon of Salt
½ Teaspoon of Pepper
1 Jar of Spaghetti/Pasta Sauce
1 Tablespoon of Fresh or Dried Oregano
1Tablespoon of Fresh or Dried Basil
1 Jar of Sun Dried Tomatoes
2 Fresh/Soft Mozzarella Cheese

What You’ll Do:

ü  Preheat oven to 375°
ü  Boil pasta according to package directions and drain.
ü  Julianne the onion and mince the garlic.
ü  Take one of your mozzarella balls and make slices. The slices will be for the top of the baked ziti. Take the other mozzarella ball and cut into cubes. Set the cheese off to side.
ü  Also, at this time drain the sun dried tomatoes and slices up into smaller pieces and then set aside.
ü  Add the onions and garlic to a pan with olive oil. Sautee until tender and the onions become slightly transparent.
ü  Add the salt and pepper.
ü  Next, add the ground beef. Cook until there is no pink showing.
ü  After the ground beef has been cooked through, add your spaghetti/pasta sauce.
ü  Then add your oregano and basil. Cook the sauce through.
ü  Now it is time to layer everything up into a 13X 9 pan.
ü  First, add a thin layer of sauce to the 13X9 pan
ü  Next, add a layer of noodles.
ü  Then, sprinkle with some sun dried tomatoes.
ü  Then, a layer of cheese cubes.
ü  Next, a layer of sauce and repeat steps until you run out of ingredients to make layers.
ü  The very top layer will be the mozzarella cheese slices.
ü  Cover with aluminum foil and put in your 375° for 25 minutes.
ü  After 25 minutes, take off aluminum foil and keep baking for another 10 minutes.
ü  Lastly, ENJOY!!!

As you can tell this is truly a crowd pleaser. But, I mean why wouldn’t it be? Delicious pasta, flavorful tomato sauce, and gooey cheese, OH! and let’s not forget about those hidden bites of sun dried tomatoes!(My favorite!!)
